Last night, we went to this place in Florence called Be Bop. On Tuesday nights at Be Bop, there is a Beatles cover band that plays from 7 pm - 2 am. They are supposed to be one of the best cover bands for The Beatles.
I didn't have class today so Darcy and I thought it'd be a great day to be tacky tourists and do some sightseeing. We first went to this cute place called The Diner with Ashton before she headed off to her class. We had a great, hearty breakfast. Ashton had banana pancakes and bacon and these cool looking hash browns. Darcy and I got the same thing: Western Omelette with bacon and hash browns. So delicious! I want to go there again and get the pancakes because they looked amazing.
Afterwards, the two of us went to the Uffizi. Right when we saw the line, we knew we had to go with option B - buy the amici deli Uffizi pass. It was 40 euros and it gets us into many museums in Florence as many times as we would like and we can skip the lines! My professor told us we should get it. I'm not sure if you have to be a student or not to get this pass. I would definitely recommend it though!
The Renaissance art is fascinating. I really liked how you could differentiate one painter from the next, yet all themes of the paintings where the same. Most Renaissance art is religious. The attention to detail is incredible. I liked Botticello's "Birth of Venus" and "La Primavera" the best. Darcy and I snuck pictures! She should be loading them soon. I also liked seeing the few works of El Greco, Goya, and Velazquez since I've studied their work countless times in Spanish class. I didn't recognize most of the paintings which bummed me out. I thought I would have known more considering I took AP European History and I've listened to more history in high school from my teachers, my dad, and Spencer than most people do in a lifetime. Guess not, though. I have to say I was more impressed with The Louvre in Paris.
We booked our activities for this weekend in Interlaken. I chose to do the more intense canyoning in Chli Schliere. I'm so excited! I watched the promo video and I can already feel the adrenaline pumping in my veins.

I went to the Accademia on my own this afternoon to see the Statue of David! It was huge! Way bigger than I expected it to be. I knew it was 15 feet tall, but for some reason 15 feet tall looks more like 40 feet tall. I had to sneak a picture very carefully. These italian women who worked there had their eyes peeled for cameras. That's all I really saw at the Accademia. Since I have that special pass, I can go another day and see more if I want to.
Tonight, we are doing the inclusive dinner at Gatto again. Yum!
